MSP v6.0 Installation FAQ

My MSP shortcuts are not working! Why and how can I fix this?

The new version of MSP points to a new executable file, different than the previous version of the software. Any shortcuts or icons that had been made manually, such as pinning the icon to the task bar, will be linked to the old executable file and no longer work. First, you will want to delete the old shortcuts. Then from the Start menu locate the MSP program and right-click to pin to your start menu again or make a new shortcut.

NOTE: Shortcuts on desktops that are automatically made by MSP will not have a problem. If a shortcut leads to a dead end, follow the above procedure to re-create your shortcut.

I am getting the “Empty response from server” message after downloading the latest version of MSP. Why and how can I fix this?

This new version of MSP points to a new executable file, different than the previous version of the software. Because of this, any firewall or anti-virus software exceptions that were made specifically for the executable file for version 5 of the software will need to be re-created in the same way. Because the new exception will link directly to the current, new executable file, once the exception has been re-made, you should no longer receive the error message.

When creating exceptions, make sure to add an exception for the MSP executable file, located in your C:Program Files/Ministry Scheduler Pro folder.

I updated to the new version and all my data is gone.  How do I get it back?

To retrieve your data, go to the File menu and select “Use Recent Database.”  It should show “Database.msdb (in use)” in gray lettering, and below that in black you should see “Ministry Scheduler Pro 5/Database.msdb.”  Click on “Ministry Scheduler Pro 5/Database.msdb.”  All your data will show up.

Once your data is back, go to the File menu and select Save Database. Now when you close and re-open MSP your data will show up as expected. If you have any trouble, call us toll free at (888) 622-0949.
