Why invest in ministry software?

I never thought too much about church management until I was driving across country and happened to stop at two churches in the middle of Nebraska. All of a sudden it became very apparent why church management is so important and why churches across the country are always looking for the next best ministry software solution.

Both of these Nebraska churches looked similar from the outside but the worship experience inside each couldn’t have been more different. The first church’s pews were half full. There was obvious confusion as to who was responsible for each task. The collection basket came out late and only made it to a fraction of the people in attendance.

The second church had standing room only. The ceremony started exactly on time. Ushers and hospitality volunteers greeted everyone as they walked through the doors. Several collection baskets snaked their way through the pews and each one returned full to its proper keeper.

These two churches were the same denomination and no more than 10 miles apart from each other. The big difference was in ministry software. Software and church management can sound like turn offs. Most people start to work in the church because of their relationship with God and Jesus Christ, not because they are interested in software and management. But churches, like any organization, need strong leadership – and leading a church without a ministry software is like driving a bus blind into the dark. Your ministry and your members deserve more.

Which ministry software you chose will depend on the dynamics of your church. One extremely import area of church management is volunteer scheduling. Churches are non-profits and like most non-profits, much of the work they accomplish depends on volunteers.  Making sure that your services are properly staffed is critical. Whichever ministry software program you chose, make sure you are able to integrate it with your scheduling tool. The leading choice for ministry scheduling software is Ministry Scheduler Pro, which integrates with all popular church management software.
